When is Wales’s first World Cup game?

After recovering from the thrill of qualifying, all eyes now turn to Wales’ first cup World Cup game. 

The 2022 World Cup tournament takes place in Qatar, kicking off on Monday November 21 at the Al Thumama Stadium when Senegal take on the Netherlands in Group A. 

Wales are placed in in Group B and Wales will play their first game on 21 November, against the United States. The US are currently three places above Wales in the FIFA rankings.

Currently ranked three places below Wales is Iran, who Wales will play in the group  fixtures on November 25th.

Similar to the Euro competition in 2016, Wales find themselves in the same group as England. The two home nations meet in the final round of fixtures on November 29. 

Wales were the last team to qualify for this World Cup, beating Ukraine in Cardiff in June. It will be Wales’ first appearance at a World Cup since 1958.
